If you are a Caribbean writer or you plan to start writing, the question here is, where do you find inspirational material? I have found my inspiration from many areas of the black experience.
There is a wealth of information just in your family stories. One word, one memory can be the beginning of a series of short stories or the beginning of a full length novel.
There is a lot of verve and energy in the black family to be the backdrop for many stories. However, if it is a fictional piece be careful to build and blend your characters so that you family members and friends are not recognizable in your creative piece.
